i have a standard hp G5460uk desktop home computer, specs here; http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay?javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.prp_ba847bafb2a2d782fcbb0710b053ce01=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c02865855-19%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.tpst=ba847bafb2a2d782fcbb0710b053ce01&sp4ts.oid=5080749&ac.admitted=1390069503900.876444892.492883150
i am being given a radeon hd 5670 1gb ddr5 card and i guess i need to buy a better psu so am going to get a 750w one (overkill, but will cover me if i really get into upgrading for pc gaming)
my question is: should i upgrade the RAM or the CPU first, or would i be better off with a motherboard upgrade first to handle a better CPU in the future (the link shows the max to be 65w which wont allow an i7 2600 which is 95w)
i'm a total noob with pc's i just want to run dayZ on this at the mo.

cheers

Keep in mind replacing the motherboard requires you to do a full windows re-installation. There is also little point to putting in a multi-generation old cpu. Unless you have a non HP Windows 7 disk you are looking at a new OS with a new motherboard. It may be better to keep using the computer you have and save up to build a new one.
Brand-name desktops are a pain in the arse to upgrade. They always have issues with different components. You might have to mod the bios in order to install a new chip and things can go wrong.

You are better off saving and replacing the whole unit. Or at least the motherboard.

Should no longer be an issue. Sandy Bridge is far from outdated and the graphics could be upgraded more without overwhelming the i3 2100. How much ram are you currently running? 8Gb seems the be the sweet spot for gaming (which is the max the motherboard supports.

If you really feel 750W is the way to go, I'd say get a Corsair CX750M and a kit of 2x4GB 1333MHz ram

Definitely do not get that PSU. The CX units are not very good and 750w is WAY overkill. get a 550w unit form XFX for sure.

wow very fast replies, thanks! i'd barely logged in to confirm my email!
yeah B3AR i was thinking i'd need a new build, or to match all components basically end up building a new one and trying to cram it in my current case. well if the low end upgrades run dayZ at ok settings (i checked a lot of sites and minw will meet the minimum very easily) then i'm happy as the only other games coming out i want are also coming to xbox one ;)
as for the power supply, i need to spend as little as possible (hence taking the free gpu) to stop the wife going nuts. on newegg the recommended psu is around 300w, but i know my stock one doesn't have a cable for a graphics card, so what would you recommend tiny voices, as a very cheap alternative? (no need messing around getting me links i'll look them up on german online retailers)
thanks
