Troubleshooting liquid damaged desktop

So my kid recently spilled some coke and ice into the top of a month old system I had just built. I copied the Q3 system builder marathon for the $650 desktop. No issues with the system prior to that, now I don't have display or USB power to mouse / keyboard.

I don't have any other desktops in the house to troubleshoot which components have failed, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to which order to start replacing things. I'm fairly sure the mobo is dead, probably graphics too since i found quite a bit of sticky residue on those boards.

The computer powers on, and I hear hard drive and optical drive activity, but otherwise I have no insight as to the extent of the damage.

If I order a new motherboard and plug in a potentially damaged graphics card, is there any risk that I'll fry the new mobo?

Any suggestions?

P.S. I have no idea how long she left the system powered after the spill. She says it was just ice that dripped in, but the sticky residue suggests otherwise. She claims the display cut off immediately.

For sure the video card is shot and also the motherboard. The thing about liquid is that if no power is applied after a spill then all parts can be salvaged by blowing off the liquid and letting it dry completely.
So it may just be those two components.
