Hi, I have a new build that's been giving me trouble from day one. I have quite a bit of experience building computers in general, but this build has many firsts for me.
a mushkin chronos 120gb ssd
Formatted as GPT
using EFI to dual boot win7 and ubuntu (not sure what version... 12-ish?)
So sometimes bios sees the drive and sometimes not. I have tried replacing the sata cable and switching ports.
Until recently, I was having to manually choose the os from bios becase the efi boot was not configured properly. Thanks to a nifty little program called rEFInd, I managed to get that working, but still the drive is only detected sometimes.
I am currently doing a disk image with a live cd and dd so I can try updating the firmware. My next step is to update the mobo bios.
The thing is, It seems like the drive dissapearing is a recent issue. I have (manually in bios...) booted into windows and ubuntu several times and once booted things usually run fine. I did get a windows error message about a problem communicating with a device - "an unexpected I/O error has occured"
