Hello.
My computer has had a problem with randomly crashing and restarting. It is not predicable, and I can't replicate it. Like I said, it happens completely at random.
There are no preliminary signs, either. I can be doing anything, then the blue screen suddenly pops up, and then crashes.
My computer has actually been doing this for a while, pretty much since I got it. But I couldn't find any evidence... until now.
The last time it crashed, I was able to get a glimpse of something on the bluescreen. It said:
"STOP: dxgmms1.sys"
I'm not sure what this is, but I think it's a driver for my AMD processor, because (after doing a file search) it is contained in a folder called "amd_64" (I'm guessing that refers to AMD 64-bit processor)
I have no idea what to do. Here are my system specs
Motherboard: Gigabyte (Not sure of model)
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 3.1 GHz (Overclocked to 3.8 GHz)*
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTS 250
RAM: 8 GB 1600 MHz
PSU: 700 Watt
OS: Windows 7 (64-bit)
*Although my rig is overclocked, the overclocking is not the culprit of the random restarts. My computer was randomly restarting before I overclocked it, and removing the overclock does not solve the problem.
