Problems entering BIOS

Hi,

I have been having problems with a very slow system boot-up. It seems my system "sits" on the motherboard graphic screen for about 70 - 130 seconds before moving on to the windows 7 start up screen. Then it takes another 25-30 seconds to boot up windows.

I thought I'd address the issue by buying an SSD and doing a clean install of windows on the SSD. There may be the possibility of other failing components, though I cannot confirm this.

However, I cannot seem to enter the BIOS even without the original boot drives plugged in. Nor can I enter BIOS with just the original drive plugged in. I still can start windows...

If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears, I will be contacting customer support for my motherboard tomorrow (Mon. 1/20/2014).

Here's my original setup (without the new SSD):

i5-3570k 3.3Ghz (OC'd to 4.0)
Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H Motherboard
nVidia Geforce GTX 760
8 Gb Ballistix RAM 1633Mhz (2x4) (I'm not 100% sure on exact specs)
Antec High Current Gamer 520W PSU
Coolermaster Hyper 212

The new SSD is a 250 Gb Samsung 840 Evo

I appreciate your response CompGee.

I was unable to flash the BIOS, but I did a CMOS reset by removing the battery on the motherboard (I also replaced it, but not sure if that was necessary).

I actually had to remove my graphics card (GTX 760) in addition to be able to see the BIOS screen. I then (using my HDD with windows on it) booted up and low and behold, it went to bios because it noticed the BIOS reset. I changed my boot drive to my CD drive, saved, and reset. I then unplugged my old HDD and plugged in my SSD alone and am installing windows at this very moment.

I will do a full format of my HDD with windows on it and hopefully, everything else with work out.

Thanks for reading.
