I just built my computer (first time ever for me). When I turn the power on I get the error message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key". I entered the BIOS and made the USB I was using for the Windows install priority over my SSD. However when I restart I get the same message. When I enter the BIOS it seems the boot priority reset itself, so the SSD is now priority again. Is there some sort of save button in the BIOS that I'm missing?

My mother board is an ASUS P8Z77-V Pro.

Once you have made the changes you need to save them.
F10 is usually save and exit.
In the UEFI bios it is at the top right of the screen. Save. then you have the option to save and exit.

If your monitor resolution is not set correctly, you will not be able to see the save button to the right. Again most times F10 is save and exit.

in the asus efi bios there two places that need to be changed. one under hard drives in the boot menu. make sure the ssd is the first hard drive. then under boot order make sure it hard drive then cd-rom. on the windows install make sure windows restore (boot) partion is on the ssd and not on your hard drive.

I only have 1 hard drive, my 750GB SSD. I'm not sure I completely understand what you're talking about. I have Windows on a USB thats plugged in.

I saved the changes, yet I still get the error. Any other ideas?

Right but I'm trying to load the USB so I can install windows. Shouldn't the USB be priority then?
