Hey there,

I recently decided to upgrade my rig for the first time..this being my first build i just had a few questions before i jumped in headfirst.

I have researched these topics A LOT and have trawlled the threads and mostly have found the answers i am looking for but before i went ahead and start, i thought i would double check first..

Build:
CPU - AMD FX 6300 (not OC'ed) (Aftermarket CoolerMaster hyper t4 heatsink)
GPU - HD 7700
MOBO - GIGA GA-970A
PSU - GENERIC 500 W (came with the case)
RAM - Kingston 2x4gb
CASE - Thermaltake V4

Now, I use this current rig/future rig for gaming purposes ONLY. I browse the web but that is only minor compared to gaming. I am quite happy with it at the moment but feel it is time to future proof..
I was just wondering what would be a good mobo/gpu to start the upgrade with? I believe i can hold onto my fx 6300 for atleast another year or so yet so if you could let me know what GPU/MOBO would be a good combination with a 6300 that would be great! Im not sure i would even need to change my mobo but feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

Edit: I should also state that i am not looking at crossfire/SLI. Eyefinity will be a posibility in the future. I will also be installing a SSD soon, so any input on those would be appreciated also. I am also located in Australia. So anything under/just over $1000 would be great!

No reason to upgrade your motherboard. Only real benefits would be increased OC potential and better Crossfire performance, neither of which matter for you.

I would put your money into a better GPU/PSU instead. Your current motherboard already supports FX-83xx series CPU's if you need to upgrade in the future.

Hahaha yeah that was actually what kind of prompted me to begin the upgrade; i heard it making a funny noise so cleaned it out with air in a can but still every so often it can get quite looud/hot. I was looking at either a thermaltake/coolermaster 650w. Should i worry about gold certified or will bronze be ok?

I would stay away from most Thermaltake and coolermaster PSU's as many aren't much better than the generic. Whats your budget for a PSU and GPU?
