I finished installing my computer, and I need some help on ram settings in bios. i have g skill 32gb xmp trident x 1866mhz.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231624&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-

This is what i got. I heard that I have to change the ram to 1866 manually since it comes with either auto or 1333. And do I also have to write down the timing in the bios? Sorry im just very unfamiliar with ram settings

Solution
If it's at 8 then you're fine, earlier thought you said it was 9???

"So, do I have to do anything else after enabling XMP? I just turned on CPU-Z, and it's showing DRAM Frequency 933.4 and CL: 9. My ram CL should be 8-9-9-24."

Regarless, glad all is well :) May want to close the thread

You're at 1866, that's good, have a feeling the BIOS isn't ready for the timings, so can try changing the CL manually to 8 (increase in performance) but may need to up the DRAM voltage to 1.65 if BIOS isn't ready. Can go that route or leave it at 9 and keep an eye out for BIOS updates

Ok when I emabled xmp, my boot is failing. The computer turns on, the screen doesnt show anything, then it shuts off, then it turns on again itself, and repeats this process....

Im kinda nervous. What should I do? I cant even get to the bios anymore

I retried xmp, but without changing the voltage, it booted fine, with 1.6V. Should I leave it like this, or should I go back and raise +0.05?
