I don't have a USB drive. I have a SD card to USB adapter. I put a SD card in it and turned it into a LiveUSB and it worked on my computer.

However when I tried it on a computer that I build ~8 years ago I was not able to boot from it.

Why is this? Is the motherboard too old to boot from USB (it did give me the option in boot selection) or is it too old to boot from SD card adapters?
Please note that I had 3 options of USB. I tried all but none worked.
Is it worth trying on a USB drive or should I just use a LiveCD?
