The Files I Download are Corrupted

Hello, I must warn you, not exactly "tech savvy". Anyway, i have been trying to download things off the internet and they always end up corrupted or invalid, but i can download games off of steam. Is there anyway i can fix this problem?

It can be almost anything over 1 MB, including java or adobe flash player. My Kaspersky says that i do not have any viruses, and I tried internet explorer and Google Chrome (I was able to install google chrome before this problem started)
