It has been a year now and I have an AMD FX 6100 with 16gb ram (PC3-12800), MSI 760GM-P-34 (poor overclocking), Nvidia Gforce GT 610, 120 gb SSD. I just upgraded the hard drive to the 120gb SSD and that was a huge improvement. Will there be any "real" noticeable improvement if I upgrade to the AMD FX 8350? and/or should I upgrade my MB? If so, which MB can you recommend. I used the computer for video / picture editing for my business. Thanks, Brendan

Solution
The main problem is trying to support 125W components on a 760 chipset. You should really aim for a 970 or 990 for almost all FX processors.
A new CPU will speeds things up.

Op says its primarily for video/picture editing...though, depending on what software he uses, a graphics update could definitely improve performance.

What kind of gain with just the CPU upgrade (no mobo change)?
