hi, i have xfx amd radeon hd 7850. it has 2x6 pin PCI-e power connectors to power it up but when both are plugged it its fairly noisy and i find it irratating at 20% fan speed aswell, the absolute lowest.

my question, can i use only one 6pin to power it up, i have tried briefly before and its MUCH MUCH MUCH quieter, practically silent.

would this damage the PSU/GPU/computer in general?
or it is possible to do so.

thanks.

No, do not use 1 6 pin when it requires 2. Just use 2 6pins and reduce the fan speed in AMD Catalyst. Lack of power can potentially cause games and your computer to crash. It can also harm the card itself.

ok, well its my first build and its pretty noisy as in rushing air noises which is a good thing but just not needed when im not gaming or not using graphics intensive programs. its on 20% minimum.

Just make sure both 6 pin power connectors are plugged in at all times. If they wanted only one six pin, they wouldn't have put 2. Never underpower any of your PC components.
