Hi there,
My brother has a laptop with Win 8 installed, I have a desktop with Win 7. We are able to share the internet (usb modem) from his laptop to me, via a straight network cable; but can't share data or play games over LAN. It seems it's either network or data. How can we resolve this issue, so that we are able to do both?
Any (detailed) help would be greatly appreciated. [We're both pretty clued up on computers, just not that clued up on networking, and sorting out network issues]
Thanks

To be honest I think investing in a basic ADSL modem would be a good idea, even one a friend may have lying around? pleanty of people have usable ones left lying round from when they change ISP. Check the windows home group settings, theres lots of stuf fin there for making sure the computers are talking and sharing files. My brother and I used to open this up as much as poss. I'm fairly clued up on networking but not on internet connection sharing in windows. I'm not sure how the NAT works but i can imagine some games wont like it.
