Okay so very recently upgraded to a GTX 660, as in yesterday recent. It's a brand new Gigabyte 2GB OC edition with the double fans. Now I played practically every game I own yesterday testing out FPS etc and I found when playing Crysis and World of Tanks I get the noticeable "bzzzzzzz" of coil whine the whole time i'm playing, no matter what my settings are. If I alt-tab the whine stops until I go back into the game, also it'll stop for half a second as I enter and exit a pause menu or change to a different tab in the options.

This only happens when playing these two games, Borderlands 2, Shogun 2, Napoleon Total War, Counter Strike Global Offensive, Men of War Assault Squad etc practically all my games besides the afromentioned 2 run with no coil whine whatsoever, complete silence besides the fans.

Should I be worried about this? Is it harmful in the long term to my GPU? I play WoT for 4 hours plus practically every day so this coil whine is a dealbreaker for me if it's going to f*** up my GPU. Is it simply a matter of audible noise and no direct harm being done to my GPU from running these games? I just find it strange it only happens in 2 games out of the 20+ I ran yesterday. It's not a matter of extremely high frame rates making it squeal in Crysis or WoT. I'm hovering around 40-60 in both.

System Specs:
i7 2600k stock clock
8GB DDR3 RAM
2TB HDD
650W PSU
And the GPU.

I'm sure it's the GPU. I've took the side panel off while running said games and the noise is emanating from the GPU not the PSU.

Phew, so it's normal even if it only happens whilst playing certain games, while not happening on others?

Cheers! As long as it's not going to bring my card a premature death I can live with it, too lazy to go through the RMA process when it has a lifetime warranty anyway.
