Fans spin clockwise are intake or exhaust?

Hi Miraklebda
On those fans, there will be an indicator on one of the edges noting airflow direction. the fans will always spin in one direction (depending on the specific fan, due to different fin molding). if you cannot see the arrow, run it up and put your hand next to it. you'll find out soon enough. might be worth also noting that the fans can be mounted in either direction to suit your needs. in short, the answer to your question is it depends on the model. The AF140 fans spin counter clockwise and will blow air towards their rear (away from the corsair label). I have one in one of my rigs and it's a good blower without making tons of noise.

Regards

I have an AF140 and i want to get an SP120....so the AF140 spins COUNTER clockwise as pushing air out of the case if its at the back.

HexIT- I was thinking the same but i figured the they wouldnt make the back so ugly... but its soooo confusing...someone explain in detail or is there a video? pHATE1337, you said if you put it at the back, it will blow air away from the corsair logo meaning its exhaust but (i dont want intake but what if i did? just put it the same way?)

Guys I just need help here....

um, clockwise when standing in front of it or behind it? haha! cuz it's either "yes" or "no", it's all relative.

the only truth i've found with fans is this: (1) they usually have arrows molded into the frame to tell you which way it spins and which way the air flows, and (2) fans push air towards the spider, the 3-4 "legs" that support the fan motor in the frame, and pull from the completely open side.

you wouldn't attach the fan internally for one and externally for the other, just turn it around. if the logo on the fan is facing you then it is blowing air away from you, if it is away from you, it is blowing air towards you. this is only for these corsair fans, may be the same on others, but i don't have them to hand to check. on a side note... the SP120 fans you mention, are they going on a radiator?

lol. mate fans only blow 1 way front to back. the back of the fan has the mounting bracket for the motor. the front of the fan is where the end cap and fins are mounted.
the difference between sp and af fans is sp fans have bigger fins but runs at a lower rpm. bigger fins allows slighty more pressure to build up behind the fin.
AF have slightly thinner fins but more off them so has less preasure behind the blades. but because of the higher rotation speed and higher fin count you get a similar amount of air moving through the fan. but because its moving faster over more fins you get more air movement noise.

labeling the fans air flow and static pressure is a bit of marketing hype as you need both AF and SP to calculate a fans efficiency not either or.

the only real difference is noise when you mount the fans on a cooler. the sp fans are generally quieter but also less efficient for overall amount of air moved around the case.

Phate1337 - YES, they are going on an H100i.

To answer all your questions, Hexit I will be USING THE SP120's on an H100i and an AF140 at the back. So the SP120's will be on a rad as exhaust but i dont know which way is exhaust. RAD WILL BE ON TOP. And the AF140 will be at the back as exhaust but i dont know which way that is too...

and yes, i will be using only corsair fans. AS a matter of fact i have an AF140 in a box ( I DINDT BUILD THE PC YET SO I CANT TEST) but i can spin the blades if you guys want? Again, ONLY CORSAIR fans is what ill get cause i already have fractal fans and for the case ill just copy it as the other fractal one is but as for corsair, logo TOWARDS be is exhaust and logo away (ugly back side) is intake? Note all the corsair fans will be EXHAUST.

High performance. Created two fan curves in corsair link. One for every day which is to go with my 4.3ghz overclock and is nice and quiet even under high stress and another which is more aggressive which I use when I am benchmarking and my processor is at 4.7ghz
