GTX 760 starts at 30c after bootup, but very shortly after jumps up to 50c

I'm new to having half-way decent hardware, and I am fairly concerned if this is normal, and moreso if 50c idle is okay. EVGA's Precision X software shows my baseclock to be very minimal right after booting up, but then say after launching really any program, it jumps up to 1071MHz, along with it 50c. Is this normal? Can I stop it? And is it even bad? Everything is base cooling in a NZXT Tempest 210.

Can you link me to the EXACT same card? If it's the reference cooler, that's normal.

The clock jumping is normal too, when a GPU is not being used it clocks WAAAAAY down to basically sleep mode, in which the GPU isn't stressed. This way the GPU stays cooler, uses MUCH less energy and is way cooler..
When you open a program/game, the...

When you open a program/game, the clocks will jump and the card will start getting hot. So, yeah.

I really want to know what card it is exactly, so I can see the cooling power of it.

EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2765-KR GeForce GTX

Pretty sure it's this, though I'm not 100% certain of the exact XXX-XX-XXXX-XX before the GeForce GTX, but I'm fairly sure, and I know it was similar. Also, I re-installed the 332.21 drivers and now it allowed for the baseclock to actually go down to 540MHz with desktop and chrome up, though the heat is still 43-46c, and gets down to 39c @ 405MHz, which is desktop, skype, and steam up.

So, what are you load temps? After allot of gaming?
Oh, and if you're not ok with those temps, get Speedfan and change the GPU fan speed up a bit.

I've used it. It'll also give you info about your temps.

I actually have Speedfan currently, load temps get up to 81c the highest I've ever seen it. I'm well comfortable, I was just scared that 50c at desktop was bad, though I think I solved it with the re-installation, so instead of constantly being 1071MHz, it drops down properly.

Do you have good airflow inside your case? If you have poor airflow then it's normal the card gets 20C above normal.

81C doesn't seem too critical though. Maybe other people with a similar card could confirm. Even with perfect airflow inside the case, I think this card should hit at least 70C under load.

Pretty sure it's good, don't know how to check, and I wasn't the one to put it together, a friend of the family did. I'm assuming its not horrible, as it does get down properly now that the clock lowers instead of staying locked at 1071MHz for some reason before I reinstalled the drivers.

Hmm... Maybe the GPU core isn't making contact with the cooler. I'd take it out and wiggle the cooler a slight just to see. But before that, yeah, what airflow do you have? What are your intake and outtake fans?

Yeah I just checked your case model and it seems pretty good, got a lot of fans.

As I said, I don't think 81C under load is that bad for this card, I think it should be more around 70C but it's not too critical. It's more the 50C on idle that seemed a little high to me.

Pretty sure it was because the clock was locked at 1071MHz, which is solved now after the reinstall of the drivers. Thanks everyone!

Oh, and the new idle is ~41C
