About the socket it's enough to know it's an am3 socket, the rest isn't important for the choice of which cooler to take.

If you want a really good and silent cooler i would take the next,

You should choose the CPU cooler fan very carefully. You can take care of following points while buying a CPU cooler Fan:-

1. Manually rotate the fan, it should not be stuck while manual rotation with fingers otherwise it will make noise after few days use.

2. See it should properly fit on the place, if it will be loose then also it can make a noise.

3. Try to purchase a branded one with a good make, avoid purchasing the local brands of CPU cooler fans.

4. Try to buy a 12-V fan only, the 5-V fans are not much successful for the long run.

Thanks..

Just pick a CPU cooler with a universal bracket. It is made to fit all avaible sockets. If you are on a budget, an Hyper 212 EVO from Coolermaster would be great. It performs well and because it uses a 120mm fan, it is pretty silent.

If you have more money to spend and want to do some overclock, I suggest you look for a bigger cooler such as the Noctua NH-D14 or the Phanteks PH-TC14PE. The TC-12DX from Phanteks would also do very good.

There are already a few options given,my one,the hyper 212 evo, noctua NH-D14 and the phantecs. It depends on your budget and wishes (would you like to overclock?) which one you would take.

My option is quite cheap and not to loud. The hyper 212 evo might be a little bit better but is more expensive. The others are high end coolers, imo really money spend for overclocking.
Overclocking, btw,is also possible on the zalman and cooler master. The other three just are imo better for it.

Maybe you would like further suggestions or more help with the choice between these options?
In that case, what is your budget?
They will all fit in your case.

Reading some reviews about the one(s) that you like might help with making a choice.

Yes, I want something really quite because the stock one I have is very loud no I will not be overclocking everything will be running at normal speeds and I want to know what is the difference between am3 socket 938 939 and 940 becuase when I look at coolers they usually say am3 939 and 940 but dont mention 938 should it still work or are they different and my budget is around $70.

It's quite tall with a hight of ~170mm so placing it in another case than the one you have might be a problem, but in the cooler master it should fit with ease.Just telling this for the instance you might want to change your case (and why should you?).
I've got the thermalright hr-02 macho with the same fan and can't hear it in a cooler master haf xb which is very open at the top. They are easy to install too.
