Lets say I have 1TB right now and would like to upgrade to 2TB or 3TB or even 4TB later (maybe in a year or 2 years).

Do I just need to pull out the old one and replace it with the new one?
Is it just compatible with all my current specs?

Yes. Very typical configuration.

In my current main PC, I have 4 drives.
128GB SSD (Kingston)
128GB SSD (Sandisk)
3TB HDD
2TB HDD

All running happily together.

Yes. Technology didn't change. So hardware wise it will work.

Although to get over 2TB I think you'll need to use GPT partitions.

Depending on your budget, if you want more performance you could also consider getting a SSD for your OS and programs. And a secondary HDD for your data.

Yes you can do that. As long as you have enough space in your case and enough SATA ports on your motherboard.

As I suggested previously, also consider getting a SSD for maximum performance just to run your OS and programs. And get separate HDDs for your data.
