Sorry, really nooby question here.I changed the multiplyer of my processor from 34, the stock 3.40ghz, to 38. Is this now overclocked to 3.80ghz? If not, what else do I need to do? I am using an Asrock extreme 4 and an i5 3570k

Yes, you have overclocked it to 3.8GHz, but make sure that you run Prime95 for 15-20 minutes to test for stability. If it crashes, ease off the overclock a bit. Also, make sure that the CPU after 20 minutes of Prime95 doesn't reach past 85C.

its been running prime95 for 45 mins no errors with the highest temp at 80C with multiplier of 40, going to bring it down a bit until I get a better heatsink soon, just to be safe. Thanks
