Just built this last summer:
amd 8350 fx
asus sabretooth 990fx
16gb ram (1600mhz)
psu 950w
2x gtx 770 2gb

I have both cards installed and recognised by windows 8.1. The control panel says SLI is enabled and I made sure that the profiles are in SLI.

However in games such as metro last light (50 fps average), farcry 3 (50 fps average) and Battlefield 4 (85fps average) I'm getting the frame rates I was getting with only one card.

I tried testing them individually and they both work. It would seem applications just don't want to use both cards.
My last theory is that maybe my cpu is bottlenecking and maybe I should overclock? I'm hesitant to do that since I'm not sure that would fix the problem but also it could destabalize my system.

Please help?

Are you using the correct PCI slots? If you are then it's likely a bottleneck.

go into the nvidia control panel and enable the sli visual indicator bar. Google this if you need help turning it on or understanding it. Then run the games you play and you will see how much sli you are using and whether or not your cpu is giving you a bottleneck.

I've tried slots 1 and 3 as well as 2 and 4. No difference.

It's usually around 3/4 to 2/3 in bf4. Is that good or bad?

def a CPU bottleneck in the areas where the sli bar shrinks. Even my 4770k at 4.6ghz bottlenecks my dual 780s in bf4, so all you can do is OC the cpu. Some game engines bottleneck the cpu while some the gpu. Look at crysis 3, that game is mostly gpu bottlenecked instead. It also depends on the resolution your at, the lower, the more CPU limited you will be.

I'll try oc the CPU then and pick a solution if it works.
