Hi there,
i've been wanting for years now to be able to play counter strike without lag..

i just tried playing Counterstrike Source on a mid 2012 15" MBP.....
and the FPS would drop really low,,, and there would be stuttering - where someone would see me well in advance of me seeing them - getting me shot without a chance..

i don't really have much interest in the latest games; like BF3/BF4 or Crysis e.t.c..
I just want to be able to play counterstrike without being at a disadvantage...

What kind of scope of machine am i looking at to run it Flawlessly?
i would like to be on a completely level playing field (in terms of lag) as everyone else..
I've got a very good internet connection and play wired into the router via an ethernet cable.
But due to the FPS dropping, and other laggy phenomenon .. i don't stand a chance when playing against other people..

I believe CounterStrike is CPU intensive.. - but requires a decent GPU as well..
Could someone please suggest a Rig for me to build that will give me a completely lag free gaming experience?
i don't have a 120hz monitor... and don't think i will get one..
Is there a computer that will give me an equal chance as all other players - so that it comes down to skill, and not 'who has the best hardware'..

much thanks,
JDN

CounterStrike isn't a very intensive game, you could build yourself a rig that can max that easily and be above 60 FPS. Go to pcpartpicker.com and construct a build for you that is in your price range.

cheers,
i don't really have a clue how much to spend though....

if it stays above 60fps - does that mean it will be completely smooth? - (no people lagging around a corner and shooting you before you even see them on screen?)

The people lagging around the corner is generally due to an internet connection, whether it be your connection, their connection, or a poor server connection, that is generally the issue not your machine. However, if you notice the game isn't smooth and kind of looks like a slide show, that means you have a low FPS and that could leave you at a disadvantage as well. Since you don't have a 120HZ monitor, your screen can only show 60FPS most likely if it is a 60HZ monitor, so you will only need to be able to out put 60 FPS at any given moment.

Could you give me an idea for your budget, how much you want to spend? This includes if you need a keyboard, mouse, or OS. I could put together a build for you.

a pc that can run cs go at max graphics without any lag would be
core i3 ivy bridge
4gb ram
amd hd 7750
these are the main components you need. other things such as motherboard, power supply, hard drive dont make any difference...just get ones which are compatable with the cpu,gpu and ram.
with this setup you will never get fps below 60 at 1080p and you can also play games like battlefield but with lower details. hope this helps :)
