Cpu clock lowers ingame and causes lag

I will be playing my game just perfectly then all of a sudden I'm lagging like crazy. It turns out that every time I lag that my cpus' clock speed has lowered and it stays there for a minute or two then boosts back up to where is should be. It also lowers its current usage. I have some screen shots of it when I'm in game. It happens in all games and damn near makes them unplayable.

You shouldn't have put a backup PSU in. Where did you set (disable) adaptive voltage. Where and what did you set your vcore to?

Windows 8 (and most other OS's) cannot modify your bios. All they can do is let you run a program that requires more CPU/GPU/Motherboard resources and if you have adaptive settings (like voltage) these will then increase with a set amount to meet (or try and meet) demand.

What are your CPU temps when this is happening (could be throttling due to heat point set in bios)

Could be an issue with your PSU (It could be defective or ageing, or your electricity could be surging/fluctuating causing the PSU to try and compensate by lowering the watts/volts it can deliver stably)

Well I just bought this PSU less than a month ago. My cpu temps were around 40-50c

Well that is a quality PSU. I'm running the TX version right now.

If you have adaptive voltage enabled, you can try disabling and manually set your vcore to 1.26v

BTW. DON'T BUMP POSTS (they'll warn you then delete the thread)

That would require you to enter the BIOS settings.
I would recommend reading exactly what to do, before doing so as you can change something that shouldn't be change.
