Which cases for either h100i or the Kraken coolers?

Hey all,

Can you give me your top 5 cases that would have no trouble mounting the Corsair h100i or the NZXT Kraken X60 liquid coolers?

I had originally thought I was going to get one of the Phantom cases, either the regular one or the 630 or 820 but I've read and watched videos where they don't mount so easily or components get in the way so they had to mod the case some.

Which cases would you go with? I can spend up to $300 on a good case. I'm a fan of sleek designs as well.

You didn't say what size the MB is that you'll be putting in the case. If it's a standard ATX or ITX, or even M-ATX, then the NZXT Source 530 might be a good option for you. The case is designed around airflow, and according to the write-up, "Fits large water cooling radiators up to 360mm in size. Native support for the world's largest all-in-one liquid coolers, the 140mm / 280mm NZXT Kraken."

It won't fit an EATX or larger MB, though. Still, if you don't need the bigger MB, it's an awesome full tower case and only 89.99 at newegg.

This was does indeed fit the Kraken 60, though, and you won't beat the price on a case that fits the Kraken 60. It's a smaller case for a full...

You are kinda asking two different questions there. The H100i is a 240mm radiator and the X60 is a 280mm radiator. Also, they are priced far enough apart that (at the moment at least) they aren't really direct competitors.

Cases which fit 240mm radiators are incredibly common, but 280mm rad support is far less so.

The Phantom 820 should have no issues with either, as should the Phanteks Enthoo. Both are pretty huge overkill for most people though.

Good point. I was looking at some reviews and some benchmarks regarding both the h100i and the Kraken coolers, and the Kraken gave lower overall temps under load both stock and overclocked? But I've nothing but great things about the h100i. Do you think it's worth it to pay extra for the Kraken?

As far as the cases, I was looking at the 820 and the Phanteks Enthoo as well. Have you heard anything good regarding the Carbide Air 540 by Corsair?

I actually really like that case, and it's much more sensibly priced than either of the previous two mentioned, but it's a little on the impractical side for most people.
You shouldn't have any issues fitting either model into one of those, and everything I've seen is incredibly positive from an airflow perspective, but the cube shape could cause a lot of issues. Most people aren't height limited, but can be width limited.

This was does indeed fit the Kraken 60, though, and you won't beat the price on a case that fits the Kraken 60. It's a smaller case for a full tower, though. Only 3 5.25 external bays, and only 6 internal 3.5 bays, with a 2.5" SSD mount behind the motherboard tray as an extra.

If you need a bigger motherboard, this isn't your answer. If your motherboard is ATX or ITX, this one's a good choice.

Takes a 200mm fan on the front (with filter), or 2x120mm or 2x140mm fans on front.
Takes 2x120mm fans on the bottom.
Takes 1x120mm or 1x140mm fan in the back.
Takes 3x120mm or 2x140mm on top.
Also a spot internal for a pivoting 120mm or 140mm fan.
Air filters for all intake fan positions to help keep case clean.

It can fit a 280 or 360mm radiator on top.
On the front, it can fit a 280mm radiator, or 2 horizontally mounted 140mm radiators.
On the bottom, it can fit a 240mm radiator as well.
Not to mention, a 140 or 120mm radiator can be mounted on the back.

Lots of space for radiator surface in the case, much more so than in most cases. All this without modding the case.

Might not be a bad idea as you can use a 360mm to cool your CPU, and still have room for a 240 and 280 to cool 2 GPUs.

I got this case, and with the money saved on a case, I'm able to afford more fans, better fans, and a better liquid cooler. Very satisfied.
