i am trying to set up a minecraft server so i watched a vid the in it gave me to get into 192.168.1.1 is not working...HELP!

That sounds like they want you to log into your router to set up some firewall rules. Your router might not be at that internal IP address.
run cmd, type ipconfig /all
Look for whatever adapter you use (should be near the top of that info), the ip address for the default gateway ( ipv4 ) will be your router's ip address (on almost all home configs).
