Is it possible its not formatted in fat or ntfs?
If you cant access it, how did you put music on it for your car to play?
I apologize! You are going to stop answering my questions because I keep you bad/ncomplete information.
First, an answer to the question: the pc did recognize the flash drive initially. It saw the drive, I put some music on it and took it out to the car where it played perfectly. I brought it back in to put some more music on it and it has never been functional (on this pc) again. I said it wouldn't work on any other pc but now I did get it to work in my kid's pc (also a Dell). It is recognized and I can put data on it.
Which indicates that it's not a problem with the drive, but with the pc. So to restate--my Dell PC running Windows 7 doesn't recognize this (or a previous duplicate) 32 gig Sandisk drive--although it does recognize my 16 gig Sandisk drive. The drive shows up in Disk Management (no exclamation points or anything) and (now that I've uninstalled Kies) in the Explorer, but it doesn't show that there is anything on the drive and I can't get to the drive to put anything on it or re-format it. I've uninstalled the drive in Disk Management and had the pc find it and reinstall it and I've changed the drive letter. That's all I can think of.
