Hi,

I have a laptop that I use asa media server with my plasma TV to play movies over HDMI (via my receiver). When I had windows v8 the Intel control panel for video allowed me to scal the horizontal and vertical picture size as percentages so I could get the picture to appear on the TV without cutting off the edges. Now I have upgraded and the geniuses at Intel seemed to have "simplified" the graphics control panel so it only has 3 scaling options, center, fill and maintain aspect ratio. Now I cant get the picture size to fit my plasma, the task bar and icons on the desktop are truncated out of visibility. With the old control panel I could set those percentage scaling values so the picture fit exactly correct.

What are my options now that the old HD4000 control panel has basically been dumbed down by Intel after the upgrade to 8.1? I'd rather not go back to windows 8, but if I have to I will. Is there a way to get my picture to shrink so it does not truncate on the TV. The laptop screen is fine, its just the 55 inch plasma display needs the size adjusted to not truncate the image. Is there any chance of getting a custom scale in the video profile I use with my Integra receiver and Panasonic plasma?

Thanks
Rick

OK, I did figure out how to fix this. When playing a computer via HDMI to a large plasma screen and using integrated Intel HD4000 graphics driver... Do the following: In the control panel for the graphics, choose the scaling option called "center image", also set the refresh rate to 60hz (mine was at 59). This will place the image in the center of your TV with a whole lot of black shadowbox around it. Now go to your TV menu and select the "Zoom" function in your aspect ratio settings. Now the picture should be perfectly situated on your plasma screen with no truncation of the task bar or truncation of any desktop icons that happen to be close to the edges.

Hope this helps others, it is not real intuitive how to get TV's to work properly with a PC but this does the trick without any need to set a non standard aspect ratio. If you are using your Intel 4000 graphics PC as a media server it can be problematic to get the picture to fit the TV set.
