My computer that I built just isn't running games like it should, in particular DAY-Z. I have to dumb down all the qualities on the game just to get like 30-40 fps. Is there anything anyone can help me with?

My specs.

AMD FX(tm)-6200 six-core processor 3.80 GHz
RAM- 16 gb
64 bit operation system
Graphic cards - two AMD Radeon hd 7700 series running on crossfire, though one of them has a 90gx2 on it and was more expensive.

Do you mean the FX-6300? Also, which 7700 series cards are they? 7700 series cards are not powerful at all, and even two in Crossfire aren't really too powerful. Depending on your settings, you may be getting the performance you should be. That said, Crossfire is very buggy, and it depends on which 7700 series cards you are using.

Hahaha... Low FPS in DayZ on lowest quality. If I hear that one more time I'm gonna go crazy.
Bohemia Interactive suck at optimizing games and DayZ is currently in alpha, so there's your explanation to that.

Other games may have a bug with crossfire, or simply not work well on your current GPU(s). Try switching one of them off.

Both the mod for Arma 2 and the Standalone version of Day-z have major graphical issues, and the FPS issues you're experiencing are to be expected. Friends with extremely high-end machines still have issues with FPS, even at medium graphical detail.

I get probably 30-50fps with every setting either low or off with my current rig, and don't expect anything more.
To summarize - I wouldn't judge my system based off of the performance in either the mod for Arma 2 or standalone versions of Day-z.

Annnd no just says AMD fx 6200
Also everywhere I look on the box and in my hardware it just says Radeon hd 7700 series I'm not sure what you're asking lol. And one of them was like 200$ dollars.. I'm kind of pissed to know they aren't that powerful, if I were to buy a replacement what should I go for?

Oh okay, I don't hear too much about the 6200, but I think it's pretty good. If you paid $200 for a 7700 series GPU you either got ripped off or you got something in the 7000 series like a 7870 or something. The best GPU in the 7700 series, the 7790, only costs around $115-140. Is there any way you can tell me the exact name of your GPU(s), either from the box or in Windows somewhere?

This is a bit aggravating I typed dxdiag in the run box in the start menu to see the name of the graphics card and it still just says amd Radeon hd 7700 series.. I'm trying to see which one it is in that series lol my brother has all my boxes and he's being a b**ch about showing me what is on the box.. I'll try to get back to you on that. I know one of my cards says GHOST on the side of it..

Try searching in Windows for Device Manager, then click on "Display Adapters", that tells me I specifically have a 770, it might be the same for you there.

The first one is an Asus 7770
The second one is an XFX 7770 They are both running on crossfire. I just opened my computer and looked at them and they both say 7770 just the top one the main one I was using at first is asus 7770 and the one I added and ran crossfire is an xfx 7770 but apparently both radeon amd lol I hope that helps.

Ah yes, that is quite helpful! While a 7770 Crossfire solution gets pretty decent performance, Crossfire/SLI solutions are always not as good as having a single powerful card, but you still should be easily able to max out the game, as reading the system requirements, it asks for a recommended GPU of a single Radeon HD 7750, so you should be well over the requirement. However, Just like another user mentioned earlier, this game is still in early access alpha, so performance is not going to be nearly as good as it should be due to lack of optimization.

Your rig should easily be able to max out Day Z, and it will once the game is optimized and not in an alpha state, don't worry! As long as your rig works fine in other games, there is no reason to be worried, just let the developers work out the kinks and you will be running it on max smoothly later!

If I were to get a single powerful card what would you recommend?
