I wouldn't say so, if it's just gaming.

I think it might make a difference purely technically in some cases, however most people wouldn't notice I think.

Hence 1600Mhz seems to be the point from which you don't see much of a performance difference necessarily

and even if you do, it quickly gets quite a bit more expensive than most people would care for.

Oh and I'd stick with G.Skill/Corsair/Kingston for brands. Even 8GB is enough for games.

2x4 is just fine.
