I'm stuck between the 760 and the 270x. I know the 760 is supposed ti be a little better, but I'm gonna be playing a lot of battlefield 4 and need to know how much of a performance mantle will bring and if it's worth having better gameplay with certain engines than overall better performance, and there's the upcoming nvidia 800 series which i should probably wait for...

Even if Mantle doesn't make a huge impact (and I think that it will), the R9-270X (HD 7870) and the GTX 760 are very similar already and any boost given to the R9-270X will make it surpass the GTX 760. For BF4, I would choose the R9-270X or HD 7870 since they're the same card. Pick HD 7870 or R9-280X based on whatever costs less and make sure that it has the full 2GB of VRAM.

with this new generation of card nvidia is simply better. The 760 is a superior card to the 270x. The only appeal amd had was it was cheaper, but now after the miners got a hold of them there is really no reason to go with AMD, they are a hotter running, more power hungry card with less performance.

And for the above member, the 280x right now is probably the worst buy possible, at least in the US. Your options are either pay a $100 premium or wait weeks for a product to maybe come in stock.

Go with the 760, similar price and a better GPU.

Go with the 700 series, if you want opengl (cudas something else thats nvidea only lingo)
Go with the 200 series if you want the open cl

Both are fine. however open gl 4.3 is what you want to target

But for cpu calculations only, the amd 200 (well any amd cpu) series anhilates the nvides cards, hell it anhilates all intel cpus.
