Just got a asrock z77 extreme 4-m new mboard and a radeon 290 put it together with my CPU i5 2400 2x 4gb ram 850w corsair hx psu and my other also sapphire radeon 290. The system works fine with the one video card but when I put the other 290 in and try to boot the display doesn't come on and won't boot. I tested both cards which work fine by themselves. When both cards are in the fan is going on both. Installed the cards into slot 1 and 3 like manual says. Am I missing something? Thanks

Solution
I had a similar problem with two Powercolor HD 7870XTs. One of the cards is defective but you'll have to take them both back to find out which one. Crossfire should work perfectly with no issues. With two cards that work properly, Crossfire is seamless and invisible. I've been using Crossfire for 5 years so you can trust that I know what I'm talking about. I only recently upgraded from twin XFX HD 4870s (both still run fine but don't support DX11) and I initially went with Powercolor HD 7870XTs but they hated Crossfire for some reason. I said "screw it" and went with two Gigabyte HD 7970s and it worked perfectly from day one, just like my HD 4870s did.
