More about cpu heat sink fins
  1. Fins increase the surface area of the heat sink, which increases the heat sink's ability to transfer heat by convection
  2. Best answer
The larger the heat sink surface area and the thicker it is - the more easier for the fan attached to it to dissipate heat. Large heat pipes doesn't always mean for a better heat transfer.
