IMO, this would be your best bet for a pc coming in under £1400.

I assume it is for gaming, if not let us know and I, or others, can adjust! Equally, if you already have any parts do the same so we can recommend something more appropriate.

The Intel cores are a LOT more efficient in single thread applications. Most games arent yet designed to take advantage of the 8 cores available on the AMD.

For the moment, the best value for money gaming cpu is the I5. But with your budget why not get the I7 :)

This is a pretty comprehensive comparison between the I7 and 8350

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/697?vs=836

The I7 outperforms the 8350, and with the H100 Cooler I put into the build you can get a great OC on the I7. My I7 on a less powerful cooler is running 4.2Ghz and can run 4.4 stable and still not too hot. This puts you beyond the 8350 speeds. This isnt the full picture as, yes, with this cooler you could OC the 8350.

But overall, I believe the I7 to be the better choice at this budget.
