how do get data stored on laptop on hardrive and transfer to another laptop or external drive. I have seen this done before but my man doesn't fix pcs anymore. it does mean removing the drive and attaching scart lead I thin

if the laptop posts the easy way is connect the laptops to a network and turn on file sharing and copy the files over from the network. if you have a friend that has a usb storage device you can connect it to the old laptop and drag your files to the drive then drag your files onto the new pc. a lot of people new use 16g and larger usb sticks to move there data from a working unit to another unit. or the use a usb data cable to move the data from one unit to the other. if the old laptop dies and the drive still good. you have to have someone pull the drive and use a usb to hard drive kit that 30.00 online.

my laptop is dead yes so would have to pull the drive like you say. will see how much someone would charge for this. really just to save all the films and pics I don't really want to lose.
