Computer crashed. Any ideas as to what's causing the problem?

Here's my story, sorry if it's a bit long:

I built my pc about a month ago. Specs are:
- msi z77 mpower
- i5 3570k
- 4 x 4 gb ddr3 1600 ram
- antec 750w truepower classic
- zotac gtx 770 2 gb

I mostly played bf4 on max settings with temps on the card always staying below 72 degrees during gameplay; cpu temps were normal as well. Then after about a month of no problems I started getting BSODs with error codes 50 and 3b; they occured randomly and about once or twice each day for 3 days. On the fourth day all of a sudden while i was browsing the internet the system shut down and did not reboot. I pressed the power button and the fans would turn on for a few seconds, then everything would die again. After repeating this several times, pressing the power button would not turn on the system. I proceeded to reset the power switch at the back of the psu, and when i pressed the power button the fans and lights would turn on but the system would not boot, and I would not be able the power off the computer unless i flicked the switched on the back of the psu. Then i performed the following actions in the order presented:

1. removed gpu and connected monitor to mobo -> system works and is fine.
2. re-inserted gpu and connected monitor to gpu -> won't boot and holding power button won't turn off the system again.
3. removed the gpu and connected monitor to mobo -> won't boot and holding power button won't turn off the system.
4. reset CMOS battery and connected monitor to mobo -> system works.
5. inserted old gtx 460 and connected monitor to gpu -> system works...

...until the same thing happened to my 460. This time i was able to verify that all the fans were working except the gpu fans during the failure to boot. Here's the kicker: I powered off the switched at the back psu and began writing this thread, then powered it back on after a few minutes and everything works again! I did not get any message upon entering the desktop that 'windows had recovered from an unexpected shutdown.'

Sorry if this is convoluted, feel free to inquire. I'll try to get back asap. Thanks in advance for any help I can get!

I think this could be a problem with your GPU 770 because without it being connected your computer is working fine, try to clean the dust on GPU, check if its getting heated up. If it still doesn't work I would suggest you to send it to warranty n get it replaced.

Newegg is currently sending a replacement to me. I thought it was the video card too, until the same thing happened to the 460 i'm currently using. I don't think it's coincidence.
