Hello, I have another dilemma and would appreciate assistance.

I currently game on a 720p plasma(50in), with a 1 gb 7850.

should I get a 1.Qnix 27in 1440p monitor+ keep 7850 1gb
2. 770gtx and stay at 720p
3. 760 + 1080p monitor

Points of interest: Never seen above 720p, never gamed on a monitor.

Some would say it's stupid to have so many frames at 720p and I agree. If I go with option 2, maybe someone would buy my 7850 and I could still get 1080p.

Thanks

Go for the 1080p then, 24" monitors are a bargain these days. Your 7850 should be able to drive that. 1440p should become quite a bit more affordable in the next 3 years. 1080p on a real monitor will make a huge improvement over your old plasma.

Hi,

I have a qnix running at 1440p and at 120hz. The thing is your 7850 wont be able to handle the 1440p in most new games at decent framerates.
I had to get a 780 Lightning to get acceptable framerates in 1440p.

There is a middle ground for you, you could get a 24" 1080p monitor which will be 10 times more crisp and sharp as you plasma TV.
the 7850 was made for a 1080p resolution and will work well with it.

On the other hand I love the qnix and you can get most of them well above 100Hz which makes a huge difference in smoothness vs 60hz. So if you want to invest in something you are going to love and want to keep, get the qnix, and see if the 7850 is good enough for you, and if it isnt you can upgrade later. The qnix is the way to go.

A 770 is a bit weak for 1440p, I have a 780 and am already thinking of adding a second one. Make sure you get a card with at least 3 GB VRAM to game at 1440p.

What about down-sampling to 1080p until I upgrade my gpu situation, is it horrible? That's the same monitor I'm looking at.

Alright thanks man if a 770 can only do 1440p, I'm sol with a 1gb 7850. Though I have seen benchmarks saying it is possible, depending on what one considers playable frame-rates.

Thanks for the feedback, really big help. 2 780's huh? Everyone helped but you the most, for making me realize, I'll never be comfortable spending the kind of money i need to for proper 1440p gaming.

Thanks man that's the route I'm gonna go. I'll get the 120hz asus model and maybe another 7850 or 7870. You've all been a very big help.
