Gtx 780 TI worth the money?

Now that i've decided to buy a gtx 780, i have the following question:

Would it be overkill if i bought the MSI GTX780Ti Gaming 3GB over the normal gtx 780?

Im looking for good fps on ult at 1920x1080, and i rather not purchase water cooling for the gpu.

  1. The GTX780Ti is too expensive compared with GTX780 looking at price performance ratio. On your resolution the GTX780 is plenty.
  2. Watercooling is definitely not necessary either way. And it depends what you will be doing with it. The 780 Ti will last and perform longer for future games. If you're planning on something like Star Citizen, then you'll definitely notice a difference.
  3. The price difference between the two is minimal.
I don't think it would be overkill.
The 780 ti is around 15 % better than the 780

    Update : MY BAD!
The price difference is very big indeed. SORRY.
Only get it if you can afford.
Else the 780 is simply more than enough for your screen

So it will suffice for any game now and in the future on ult with no problems like micro stutters fps drops?
  5. Why dont you get the R9-290X?

    Yes it will.
  7. if you want good fps on ult at 1920x1080 and save money. i think GTX 780 should be fine.
but if u want more resolution, i think at ult better GTX780i, because the different between GTX780 and GTX780i at 1920x1080 not so much..

All current games at 1080P, the future is uncharted territory but the sweat spot right know for 1080P is GTX770 or R9 280X so there is a good buffer for future games with the GTX780.

Simple answer to that: Im avoiding ati for the trouble i had with them costing me 600 euros in the past.

Anyway to the others responding to this: so if i just take the normal gtx 780, it would perform the same as the Ti since the ti can't go faster when it's stuck on 1920x1080?

At your resolution, with a MSI GTX 780 Ti Gaming, you are looking at a 21% performance advantage over a GTX 780. That may be a big enough advantage to be worth it if you have the money. Check the rest of the review to see how that translates into specific games.

  11. Picked up my GTX 780 Ti today. I gotta say, the reference cooler is very cool. It's much beefier and heftier in person than you would think and it's pure solid metal throughout. It reminds me of a classic 60's muscle car with chrome fenders and mag exhaust pipes getting ready to race the quarter mile.
