I am having an SSD issue, and someone recommended that I install the latest chipset drivers (from AMD). However, I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing this.

First, I was under the impression that chipset drivers were specific to the motherboard. The only drivers I see for download on MSI's website are for audio and USB (here is the link: http://us.msi.com/product/mb/970A-G46.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win8%2064).

However, I do see on AMD's site a download for drivers (here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows+8+-+64). Are these appropriate for my motherboard? Do I need to download these, or is my motherboard already up to date? Not sure exactly what I should be doing here, so any help would be great!

Thanks.

No, the Catalyst control center is only for the video card.

It is assumed that you have either installed the chipset driver or Windows has installed at least some of the set -- usually you will have some items in the device manager with yellow exclamations if you don't install them. Since you had a previous set it would just update them to the latest so would not really be apparent.

Hopefully, the update will help your SSD issue. If not, post a new thread in the storage forum with details of the issue and your hardware/OS.

Yes, those drivers are the latest for your board and as it says, "this package is for motherboards with 700 series or newer AMD chipsets, and includes: AMD Chipset Drivers, AMD AHCI Driver, AMD USB 3.0 Driver." They were released in September 2013, so are probably newer, although they may or may not fix your issue but they shouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the help. I clicked the download link and the executable installed AMD's Catalyst Control Center. I had already installed Catalyst Control Center for video card drivers, as I have an AMD video card. Does this application manage all AMD drivers? It never said anything about having successfully installed chipset drivers or anything like that, so I don't really know if anything changed or if its was successful. Is this how it normally works?

Thanks again for your response.

After installing Cayalyst Control Center again it didn't say anything
