Defrag and SSD?

Hey all,
So I recently added a Samsung 840 evo 500gb to my computer, installed windows on it.
After a fresh install, fully updating, installing my AV, and about 4 games.
I'm ready to rock

However I was bored and ran Anaylze disk in the defrag tab. It's showing 22% fragmented
I know everyone says to never run defrag, but why? Would once hurt? 22% seem awful high :(
 
Solution
Defragmenting means putting each file in one place on the hard drive, instead of having it spread around in fragments.

That matters on a mechanical hard drive where there's a head that reads data passing under it as the disk spins, because if each file is spread around the disk it'll have to move back and forth and wait for the disk to spin the data around to where the head is.

It does not matter on an SSD because there is no physical movement involved. It can read data from any part of the drive equally fast. So there's no advantage to defragmenting. In addition, defragmenting means moving around files, which means you'll be reading and writing a lot of data to move it around. SSDs can only endure a certain amount of write activity...
SSDs don't have moving parts so if you have 22% fragmentation or 0% fragmentation the SSD will have the same access times.
You're not losing any performance having a SSD that's fragmented. When you defrag a SSD the only thing you're doing is adding unnecessary writes to the drive.
