I have a new build with a 4670k and no gpu, this weekend I found a brand new Saphire Radeon HD5450 1GB DDR3 at a garage sale for cheap. If I put this in my build will it be a waste of time since it's so old? How will it perform in comparison to my integrated graphics?

Yes, it will be a waste of time vs the integrated graphics on your 4670k. save up for an actual gpu (the 7790 is the best cheap card you can get for under $150) anything under this point is generally not a worthwile gain over integrated graphics

save some money and buy a slightly cheaper motherboard if you have to. the msi gd 45 and or gd 65 are both great motherboards for that generation for the price

You're right, it is a waste of money, as low powered as the Intel HD is it is more powerful than the Radeon HD 5450.

The Intel HD4600 will make fun of that 5450. Not worth it.
