I was sick of my old router dropping the network and the low download speed in general, so I bought a Sitecom Wireless PCI Card WL-181, which runs on the n signal and has a maximum speed of 300Mbps, and the D-Link DIR-615 router which also has a max speed of 300Mbps. My computer is located on the first floor and the router in the living room, which makes me lose quite a bit of speed, I know. The status of the connection is excellent, 4 bars and has an average speed of 104Mbps, yet when I do a Speedtest the result of the download speed is 14Mbps... Any explenations? Also my internet has a max download speed of 120Mbits/s

104 is a kinda strange rate for it to negotiate. First this means you are likely getting quite a of interference since you have fairly strong signal.

So first step is to get INSSIDER and see how many neighbors you see on the same channels as you. You will want to if possible change it to a different channel.

Now the other key thing the 104 says is that you are running wide guard bands and 20mhz channels. This will put your max rate at 130 even if you get perfect signal. You need to force your router to run 40mhz channels which should also make it use narrow guard bands. This will give you the 300m maximum the devices can do.

Problem is that if you have lots of people using the wireless near you going to 40mhz is going to use 2 block of channels rather than 1 and there are only 3 total for the 2.4g radio band. This greatly increases you chance of interference from neighbors.

There really is no best way to fix this you just have to change things around until you get it to work as good as possible. Your old router dropping was likely also a result of wireless interference.

You only choice if there is lots of interference is to go to dual band equipment and hope the 5g is better. Unfortunately part of the reason the 5g band has less interference from neighbors is it does not pass though walls and floors as easy as the 2.4g band. This means although you have less interference your walls and floors will also reduce the signal you do want. Again no way to tell other than to try and see how well it works.
