Hello
I have attached my gpu to my motherboard however previously I had no gpu. I have plugged in the gpu and the pc doesnt work I have heard this is because you need to disable intergrated graphics. If this is so, could someone please tell me how you do this step by step, im sorta new to the pc scene:) Any help is much appreciated!! THANK YOU:)

Although I am not sure the exact steps (different bios have different ways of handling this), you should be able to disable integrated graphics right from BIOS. On boot, strike the manufacture set key(I.E. dell tends to use F8, ASUS motherboards use the del key) to bring up your BIOS. From there it should be fairly straight forward. Follow the menus to find the machine's graphical settings and there should be an option you can disable to stop using integrated graphics.

If you cannot figure out how to do it from BIOS try the following: (http://www.wikihow.com/Disable-the-Onboard-Graphics-and-Install-a-New-Graphics-Card-in-Your-HP-Pavilion-6630)

Since you insert the GPU to the motherboard the iGPU is automatically disabled. You just need to install the GPU latest drivrers, reboot and you are ready to go..

Also remember to connect the monitor with one of the gpu ports, NOT the motherboard video ports

Yes however when I attach the gpu with the psu the monitor goes blank and receive s no signal through the gpu port or normal ports. Also I went onto the nvidi geforce site and it couldnt detect my gpu, do I have to download the drivers first without the psu attatched to the gpu then reboot with it attatched or is it just not working?

The motherboard SHOULD disable the on board graphics. Doesn't always happen and thus why the common troubleshooting step of making sure it is disabled in bios.

Judging based on the symptoms, it doesn't sound to me like the issue is the integrated graphics still being enabled. You should still be able to boot using the card and the default video driver installed with the OS.

Might I ask how you got to nvidia's site with the card still on the MB? Did you not have it plugged in to the PSU?

No, keep the discrete card on the board and make sure you have it connected to your power supply. It definitely will not work if you do not have it connected to the PSU. Turn the machine off, make sure the card is firmly placed in the PCI-e slot, connect all power to the card and try to boot. Does anything come up? BIOS post? OS splash screen? What PSU do you have and what GPU card are you using?

Do not attach a video card that needs a power supply without one. You can either kill the card or the motherboard or both.

You need to list details about your system and the video card you are installing.
