Hi!

couple days ago i overclocked my ram 1333mhz->1866mhz, it works perfectly. but since then my cpu temperatures go up to 95 celsius (HWiNFO64) and my pc is making "warning" sound when i render video clips
here is my full specs
CPU: i7-4770k @ stock speed with stock cooler
GPU: GTX660
RAM: Kingston HyperX Blu 16 GB 1600mhz @ 1866mhz
MOBO: G1.Sniper Z87

is there any "trick" to lower my temps or do i have to buy better cooler?

thanks

If you are using a Stock cooler, Power off your PC clean you processor and heat sink with 99% rubbing alcohol, Re apply thermal paste as per the manufactures instructions, and make sure all the pins Click when you re seat the heat sink and make sure you have you cpu fan plugged in correctly.

Good luck,

Those intel heatsinks are tricky

P.s. use a coffee filter with the alcohol to wipe away the thermal paste.

Also if you have your Ram VOLTAGE above 1.65v then that is probably your problem and need to back it off to at least 1.65v

It sure wouldn't hurt to reapply the sink and paste, but the 4770k is notoriously hot. I'm unfamiliar with RAM overclocking because I find it largely pointless, but 1600 is the generally agreed upon point where diminishing returns kick in and overclocking further isn't worth it. I'm also unsure how overclocking the RAM would change the CPU temperature unless you messed with the voltage, but I'm no expert in that regard. Perhaps try dropping it to 1600MHz and maybe that will help a bit.

Also might not be a bad idea to invest in a better aftermarket cooler. I always recommend the CM Hyper 212 Evo, but there are cheaper options available that would be better for a stock i7-4770k.

They do run hot but that is hot enough to almost boil water, and hot or not that is too hot. there is a problem with the RAM Voltage or the heatsink. Check both.

No argument there. I skipped right to an aftermarket coolre and my 4770k was running too hot for comfort at just 4.3 GHz and 1.2V, so I delidded it :p Then I got a new one and ran it at 4.6 at the same voltage. 17c minimum idle and never breaks 55 in games. Anyway, off topic...

So yeah, check everything. It's going to be hot either way, just not THAT hot.
