DIR 655: range extender

Can i use DIR 655 router as Range Extender.
My modem(Hitron CVE-30360) itself has a Wireless router in it and So can i connect DIR 655 to my router and use it as Range Extender.

Yes, you will configure the 655 as a wireless AP, so turn off DHCP, give it a static address that is in the network range but not in the main router DHCP range, use a different non-overlapping radio channel, and connect it to the main router with an Ethernet cable LAN to LAN port. You can use the same or different SSID and security/passphrase.
