Hi I have an Acer travelmate 5742G laptop, installed a samsung EVO 840 1TB. It was previously in another PC and was working in the laptop yesterday while I backed up old data. When I went to run it today the PC gets to the first 'Acer' screen with the press F2 to enter setup then crashes and restarts and gets in a loop. I remove the SSD and it can boot from a CD. I want to reinstall windows on the SSD. Any ideas?
Can't enter bios/setup

Thanks I appreciate the help

why can't you enter the bios?
Any fix will likely involve the bios.
Also the laptop doesnt look like it has any expansion bays, so how did you put it in without taking the old one out, and thus having a laptop with no OS.
Also you can't install an OS on a hard drive in one computer and take it out and put it into another.

Replaced old HDD with SSD had windows 8.1 already installed and was running, obviously drivers weren't all installed, just for backup, was going to do a new install on it today. As for the bios, I can't get into it before the laptop restarts itself and gets stuck in the reboot loop

More than just drivers, you can't install the OS when the hard drive is in computer #1, and then take it out and put it into computer #2. (unless they have the exact same hardware)
So even with no HD in the system, you can't get into the bios?

For acers it's usually DEL or F2, just start spamming both as soon as you power it on until you get the bios.

With the SSD removed I can access the bios yes. The SSD was working in the laptop yesterday (in computer 2 out of computer 1) different hardware.

Hi. I have same problem with the same laptop, but with a M500 Crucial SSD. I have seen the BIOS, but it hasn't many options. It's on AHCI mode. I upgraded to the last official BIOS and I still have an infinite reboot cycle with no errors.
The SSD works in a desktop PC.
Help please
P.D. I tested the IDE mode and now it works. Why? I must use AHCI for better performance, no? Thanks in advance
