I've been given 200 quid to buy a new HDD and graphics card. I can get the HDD for 20-30 so i have around 170-180 for the card. My question is if the card i buy would work with the system I've got.

These are the specs:

Number of Memory Slots: 4
Form Factor: ATX

Tower Case
- White AvP Defender 300 K1 White Midi Tower - Perfect for gaming
- Midi Tower with mesh front panel
- 1 x 12cm Black Fan and 2 x 12cm Blue LED cooling fans included
- Superb cooling performance
- All black interior Full cable management and easy CPU cooler access.
- Dust filter for better cooling and dust prevention
- Dual fan push / pull technology.

The cards I'm looking at are these:

Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Toxic OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card

Powercolor Radeon R9 270X DEVIL 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming Edition OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X WindForce 3X OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Asus Radeon R9 270X DirectCUII TOP 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

If these aren't compatible with my current setup, or if anyone has any other suggestions I would be most appreciative to be told :)

The Toxic is the best of the group, so that would get my recommendation. The case says it supports up to 400mm graphics cards, so that should be fine.

The only thing I can see as being a problem would be the PSU... Do you know what kind of amperage it has on the +12v rails? Or have a model number? 400w is on the lower side, but if it is quality and has enough amps would be able to power you just fine.

They are all good cards except for the Powercolor, take that off your list.

Go with the card that has the best base clock speed and warranty.

cpu 125W
mobo -75W
ram 10W
R9 270X - 180W
--------------------
390W so for R9 270X you ll need new psu

Thanks everyone, awesome advice. Toxic it is! My secondary question then does anyone have a recommended mid price-ranged PSU in mind? Haven't had much experience when it comes to this. Im fairly new to the whole scenario

I would recommend the Rosewill HIVE 550w, it's a bit better quality, albeit a bit more expensive.

Seasonic has great PSUs in the $60 to $80 range.

I tried looking up all the recommendation but couldn't get some of them due to being in the UK. Although i found that the Corsair:

Worth buying either of those then?

Thanks btw everyone - this helps a lot :)

Both will do the job but 600W is more future proof - when you decide to get GTX 770 for example , 600W would be enough .

Hello again everyone, sorry to bother you with another question regarding this, but I haven't been able to find a solid answer to a question I'm having.

I received both my Toxic gfx card and new PSU. I've begun the process of placing them but I'm wondering if i need to remove my GT 640? Is it possible to have both nvidea and amd cards running together or should i just remove the 640?

Thanks in advance ^^

Remove GT 640 . You have only one x16 pci-e slot .

Oh! i didn't realise, thanks! Thats because the second PCIe slot works at a x4 right? Cheers dude! thanks for the quick reply :)
UEFI Bios's and NVidia don't play well, together, here is a possible fix.
OK, I just ran across the fix for this while doing research on something else. I am assuming you have a UEFI Mobo, with Secureboot. If I am right, try this out. It should work: ... See full content

I'm so sorry, but i have one more question. What should be a normal/safe temp for both CPU and MB in BIOS? I'm getting 31 at start but its risen to 34 Celsius (93.2 F) for CPU and 17 celsius (62.6F) for MB - is that about right?
