How to stop automatic mSATA caching? HP Folio

Just bought an HP Folio, upgraded the memory, and added a 32GB mSATA SSD. I installed this drive in the Folio. Booted with Windows 8 Pro, went to partition manager, assigned a letter, and saw the drive just fine. A few minutes later, the drive disappeared in both partition manager and Explorer. I know the drive works fine, as I can see it when I boot Ubuntu.

Does Windows automatically use this drive for caching? I don't need to cache as I already have an SSD and don't need to cache applications or documents. Can I turn this caching feature off if that is the issue?

Solution
Then your msata is not caching, at least not thru intel's utility. There are other software caching solutions available so make sure you dont have those installed.

Make sure you have the latest firmware/bios for your Folio.
Repeat for drivers.
Dont bump posts. <grin>
