without the disk, am i screwed?

my pci express port for a gpu is faulty, and i need a new motherboard, but im pretty sure my pc didnt come with a disk to reintall windows if i did get a new motherboard, so im kinda worried about needing to get widows 8 again, is there any way to do it, or am i basically screwed?

Well, kind of. A new Win 8 license isn't that expensive, as far as software goes. It's only $100. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416776

There is a possibility of the PC having a disk maker program that would allow you to create disks to rebuild the system, but it would probably be one of those that checks to make sure you're using the original hardware.

There's also the option of getting a new motherboard of the exact same type, and then your OS wouldn't even know anything changed. That can be difficult to find at times, and with some manufacturers it can be more expensive than buying a generic motherboard and a new license for Windows.
