Hi im using an i5 3570k and i wish to overclock it for better gaming performance.

im using the Asrock axtu software, am i right in thinking changing the CPU Ratio to 40 will give me a 4ghz cpu?, the reason i ask is that windows and speed fan still show it as being 3.4 ghz.... thanks in advance

You also will need to change the voltage to stabelize the higher clock frequency. If youre using a stock cooler don't do this. for that cpu id try 1.18 voltage for that frequency should be stable if not bump it up another notch. Use prime95 to test the stability of the overclock once you manage to overclock it stabily

ahh i dont have a cooler as of yet, however it never exceeds 50C when set at 40 even with 2 770's sat right next to it at 70C

CPU voltage offset +0v
DRAM voltage 1.585v
PCH voltage 1.059v
VTT voltage 1.076v
cpu pll voltage 1.832v
vccsa voltage 0.925v
igpu voltage offset +0mv

btw thankyou for the help

all i can find is cpu vcore voltage which hovers between 1.082 and 1.110, also my clock speed sporadically drops from 4000 to 1600
