Whenever I try to play newer games such as Bioshock Infinite or Tomb Raider the screen freezes forcing me to restart the computer. My current problem is that my new gpu is freezing when it I attempt to play newer games such as Bioshock Infinite, Crysis 2, Alan Wake, or Rome II. The only games playable are of an earlier date.
My specs are as follows:
CPU: Intel i7 3820
MOBO: Asus Sabertooth X79
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16 gb
PS: Cooler Master Silent Pro M - 850W 80 PLUS Bronze
CPU COOLER: Noctua NH-D14
GPU:Gigabyte GTX 770 GDDR5-4GB 2xDVI/HDMI/DP OC WINDFORCE 3X Graphics Card GV-N770OC-4GD
SSD: 120 gb
HDD: 1 Tera
CASE FANS: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 x6
The driver I am currently using is 326.80 NVidia driver, I have tried a couple before but to no avail, each time I did a manual cleanse before installing the new driver.
I have contacted tech support and the person said that it may be related to DX API being corrupted.

Try to lower the OC on the GPU and see if the problem is still there. Also IF you have manually OCed any thing else on the system remove the OC and try again. Also Try a stress test of the system.

1. Test the GPU using OCCT. make sure to set the error detection on the GPU test. Test for 1 hour. IF it Passes go to next.
2. Test the CPU using Intel Burn test and Prime95. Run IBT on maximum ram and for 40 runs. Watch CPU temp while doing this so you know your not over heating. Then run Prime 95 for 5 hours. IF these Both pass then move on to the next step.
3. Test the Ram using MemTest86+. Burn to disk or put it on a flash drive and run at boot. Run for a minimum of 12 passes. If this Passes then it is a software issue.

let us know If you pass all these tests then we will look for a software conflict/corruption causing this issue.

Sorry for the long wait. I tested the RAM several times and each time it passes. I tested the cpu and it passed. However the gpu did not pass the test even though temps did not exceed 64C

So its ither a faulty GPU or a Driver issue.
Since it Frezzes on newer games and not on older ones... Id say Im more inclined to belive its a driver issue.
First, update your driver... BUT unless you use them, uncheck 3D, HD audio and everything that is not the Driver itself and Physx.
Those Drivers can sometimes be more problem than help.
