Alright so I've got a prebuilt desktop PC that worked perfectly until just now I was bored, so I took out the one stick of ram and put it on the carpet while I looked at the model number, then I put it back in, connected my PC to the power and my monitor and tryed to turn it on. But it wont display anything on the screen, neither will it do the usual beeping sound! I've tried using the VGA on my motherboard, the HDMI on my graphics card and the VGA on my graphics card!

Please help! I bought this PC only two weeks ago and i'm out of money to have it replaced!

Specs:
*Gigabyte ga-77lmt-s2p motherboard
*Corsair dominator cm3x8ga1333c9p4 1x8gb ram
* Gtx 650 ti 2gb

Hi, reading this I might have an answer, long shot but it doesn't sound like you are fully inserting the ram dimm, the fact you manually have to latch it... It might be latching on the top notch. You do have to press pretty hard to insert them properly.

Remove the RAM again and install it back again. Just make sure that you properly installed the RAM with its latches locked on it. You should be hearing a "clack" sound when the latch attaches into your RAM.

@alec mowatt I removed the ram and turned my PC on. The fans and lights started up but my computer let out a series of long loud beeps until I turned it off. Nothing displayed on screen.

@cinammin cider I have removed and put the ram back in several times and in different slots, but it give the same result as mentioned in first post. Though when I do put in the ram it doesn't click and I have to close the clasps myself.

After you attached your RAM and tried to boot-up your PC; does the CPU Fan spins? Any POST Beep sounds? Like long beep?

Also, remove your RAM and boot-up your PC without the RAM. If the CPU Fan spins and there is a long beep sound - it's obvious that the RAM is improperly installed.

Laid it on the carpet - might have picked up fibers, lint etc, pull the DRAM sticks clean the contacts with rubbing alcohol and foam swab (or clean cloth - not an eraser or Q-tip as many suggest they can leave fibers/gummy residue) or a clean cloth (tshirt type material) and blow out the slots, preferably with compressed air, then try with a single stick in the slot closest to the CPU

This explains your basic beep codes

Alright guys, I'm uploading a video that has what happens when i turn it on with and without the ram in, how i put the ram in etc, eta 30 mins. Hopefully that should give enough information. In the mean time, i'll try trademan1's idea of cleaning it.

Don't do that yet.

Put the RAM in the first.

I have a feeling you just disconnected something when you opened the case. Check the VGA cable to the back of the tower. Check the two connectors on the motherboard, the 4 pin and 24 pin
Check the SATA cable and power cable on the back of the harddrive, pull them out and put them back in
Check the SATA from the Harddrive into the motherboard as well.

The fact that you have to hold the power button to shut the system down tells me it's powering on correctly and probably loading the operating system.

power on the system, power off the monitor and back on again.

I cleaned the ram with a damp cloth, then dryed it with a dry cloth, then blew on the rom slots for a while, then plugged the ram back in, same result. I then kept it turned on for about 20 minutes, turning off and on the tv and trying different connections. Still nothing. Do you think that maybe when i first took out the ram and put it on carpet that the carpet might have given it heaps of static electricity and fryed the ram?

Grab a 2 x 4 pack of RAM and try it out, or borrow 1 stick from someone

You shouldn't really run 1 stick of RAM anyway. It's a dual channel motherboard.
